London Is Open - The Warm Welcome Of The City

I would like to talk about how this city, London, is open to all foreigners.

Despite recent events, like Brexit, I think that London gives everyone a warm welcome. The first day I came to London I was scared, I had left my home behind and all my routines. I also come from a small town, and I found myself lost in such a big city but after one or two days things started to get better.

First of all, as a foreigner, you are not alone. There are so many other people just like you that may be living with the same fears. There are a lot of people who want to start new friendships and meet people from other countries, or people that always had different habits, and came from totally different places.

Another important thing that will make you feel comfortable is the fact that in a few days you’ll find something that you love to do. There are many libraries for all the people who love reading; there are many shops for everyone who is crazy about shopping; there are parks, so many beautiful parks, for everyone who loves long walks, or running, or just being near nature. When the sun is shining there is no better place to be than in beautiful places like parks.

There are lots of pubs and clubs for every night-life lover, and during the weekend, some underground lines stay open all night. And also, you can always be a tourist in London because there are so many things to see, from museums to Big Ben.

And last but not least, English people are ready to welcome you. There are lots of English schools, and lots of jobs for foreign people. They often ask you where you are from because they are used to people from outside Britain.

I love this city and I really think that anyone who dreams of fitting in can do it.

“My Dad says that being a Londoner has nothing to do with where you're born.” Said the writer Ben Aaronovitch. “He says that there are people who get off a jumbo jet at Heathrow, go through immigration waving any kind of passport, hop on the tube and by the time the train's pulled into Piccadilly Circus they've become a Londoner.”
