Exam Advice!

How can teachers help students to manage their stress during the exam period?

Exam stress is a problem which we need to be able to control. For many students (including myself) exams are extremely stressful. In my case, they make me very nervous and I can’t do my best because I can’t think clearly. So, what can schools and universities do to help us handle this problem? That is what I am going to explain from my own point of view.

Firstly, as a human being, I need support from my tutors and teachers. My parents help me a lot to manage stressful situations every day and they give me advice on how to keep it under control. Then, as a student, I need support from my teachers. This is one of the main points we have to focus on. If teachers don’t care about their students we are in a huge trouble. In my opinion, teachers have to be the knowledge dispensers and they have to find a way to teach us without causing too much stress, especially in exam situations.

Another important thing is that teachers should give us a structured revision timetable prior to exams that helps us a lot to memorise and to order our studies. To sum up, it is great if they give us the exam date many days in advance so we can organise our lives beforehand. And, of course, we need time for relaxation and leisure activities. I think it is a real necessity to spend our free time doing something else and having a rest, and in fact, just sleeping.

I believe that what I’ve suggested is useful for everyone who wants to be a good teacher and a good student as well. People, don’t need to live with stress. It isn’t healthy and we loose the opportunity to enjoy life, and we only live once so we have to live life to the full. So, make time for studying, time for hobbies and time for rest.
