Beating Exam Stress

How can schools and universities help to ensure that students do not suffer from stress during the exam period?

In the modern world, we often refer to 'a stressful society'. In such a complex society, effective ways of releasing stress are needed far more than ever. In this essay, I will discuss how schools and universities can help to ensure students do not suffer from stress during the exam period in two different ways.

Firstly, tutors should support students more closely than in their usual classes. People feel happy in human relationships. In the exam period, students are likely to be nervous, so just a bit of kindness can help students' motivation in the lead up to the exam. Also tutors can advise students on study plans and ways for students to have more effective methods. This will reduce students' stress.

Secondly, a structured revision timetable prior to exam is recommended. Students will probably take exams in several subjects. The need to study prior to the exam depends on each student. Students can study what they really need to individually through a special timetable. Also creating a timetable prior to exams helps students to plan their time more usefully. They can arrange their schedule to be less stressful. They will not just study more effectively, but will have more rest time during the exam period.

Both from a human perspective and systems perspective, schools and universities can reduce students' stress during the exam period. In conclusion, I would like to say that a flexible schedule is more useful to ensure students do not suffer from stress during the exam period. During the exam period students must study harder and more intensely than usual, because the main purpose of an exam is to get a high score. A better-planned schedule is useful for students to get a high score as well as to reduce their stress.
