A Review- I Was Dead for 13 Minutes Now I Want to Know Why

I Was Dead for 13 Minutes Now I Want to Know Why

by Sarah Pinborough

I was dead for 13 minutes is a psychological thriller published in Great Britain in 2016. It tells the story of the main characters Rebecca and Natasha. Natasha Howland was found dead in a icy river, she was dead for thirteen minutes but survived. She did not remember anything but she knows one thing it was not an accident. She wants to know who did this to her and why. By her side, friend Rebecca she is trying to help Natasha get back her memory. At first they are thinking of the two 'Barbies' in school who are quite jealous of Natasha's popularity but Rebecca starts to believe in another kind of story. A story you would not expect when you start reading the book.

The novel shows a very good example of teenage struggles in school. Natasha Howland is the most popular girl in school and gets everyone's attention. She is a spoiled teenager and is the leader of a group. Becca on the other hand is an introverted girl who is always behind others particularly Natasha. And the two 'Barbies' are just fed up with Natasha's behaviour and want to do their own thing. It looks like a normal peer group, doesn't it? But everything changes when Rebecca starts looking behind the faces. Sometimes it is just not like it seems but completely different.

I was really fascinated by this book. The way how Sarah Pinborough wrote this book is just amazing as you can never stop reading. For me that is how a good book should be. The book is thrilling and interesting at the same time. If you like books with a surprising twist this is exactly what you need. Til the end you do not know what the author wants to tell you but at the end it is pretty clear.
