My Dad's Trip to London

Dear Diary,

This weekend was one of the shortest, at least it felt like that. My dad came to visit me from Friday to Sunday, so I was busy all the time. As he arrived late on Friday evening I didn't see him on that day so we started our sightseeing tour early on Saturday which meant I had to get up earlier than usual to pick up my dad at his hotel near Russell Square. However, I didn't really mind because a fun day, with my dad, was ahead of me.

Starting at his hotel we walked for about one hour. Through Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square , Westminster, down to the Thames. When we finally arrived there we were pretty exhausted and were thinking about going on the London Eye. I would not recommend doing anything on a Saturday if you haven't booked in advance. Eventually, we came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth waiting approximately 3 hours and decided to take the tube to our new destination, which was Notting Hill. Even though, I have been there twice before I always explore the new antiques and interesting things. After walking down Portobello Road we just enjoyed a tea and the best cinnamon roll ever in Gail's Cafe.

As my dad, and apparently all tourists, love the red double-decker buses we took one of them to go to Hyde Park. Luckily, by the time we arrived the sun showed up for a little while so we're able to sit down for a little bit to cool our feet down and to take a break from the really busy London. After spending some time in the park we continued our sightseeing program with a walk down Oxford Street. However, this wasn't so appealing to my dad and that's why we turned right at Carnaby Street, to avoid Regent Street. At China Town we arrived at the last point of our sightseeing list for the day and decided to go to my favourite Italian restaurant in Camden. That was it for Saturday and I was happy when I could finally put my feet up and didn't have to walk any more.

On Sunday we didn't plan to do so much as my dad had to leave around 2pm to go to the airport so we decided to just have a walk around Camden Market and eat something typically British: fish and chips. Afterwards it was time to say goodbye to my dad and eventually a really nice weekend came to an end.
