Technology, is it a real progress?

Nowadays, our society is constantly changing. The main reason is that humans want to improve day by day in order to have a better life. The development of technology and communication during the last decade of the 20th century has had an important influence on our lives.

On the one hand, the advance in technology allows people to be more informed, the ability to access the Internet on mobile phones helps people to be permanently connected with each other. What is more, it helps us in our day to day lives with the development of improved ways to carry out our daily tasks making our lives easier.

However, sometimes easy does not mean better. For example, when you are travelling by car to another city. We all use the GPS on our phones. There are many advantages in this case, since the journey takes less time. But at the same time, and as a consequence of this, you also lose other things, such as the interaction with the people that you could talk to on the way. Another example is the fact that it's getting the use of machines at supermarkets instead of cashiers is becoming more common.

As a result of all of this we can see how interpersonal relationships have been decreasing each day more and more as a consequence of the development of new technology.

In conclusion, I think that we live much busier and much more conflicted lives than people used to do 40 or 50 years ago.
