The Power of Technological Tools
Information technology in the modern world
It is generally accepted that people in the modern world have become too reliant on information technology. This may be true and I'm going to think about that in terms of studying and leisure time.
When I was an university student, technology was not as developed as it is at present since we didn't have a smartphone and we could't access the Internet whenever and wherever we wanted to.Therefore, it seemed we concentrated on what we were at that moment. When there was a question about a lesson, students asked their lecturer or checked in books and perhaps they had more time to think about it themselves.
However, things have changed nowadays. Instead of thinking about things carefully, most people just look for quick solutions on the Internet and we can get some ideas from there. Internet tutorials even tell us how to behave on a first date! Based on these points, we could say that Internet technology has removed the need to socialise and think.
What's more, in my opinion, people in my grandparents' time were more sensitive to nature than people in modern days. They judged the weather from the colour of the sky or the smell of the air. As proof of this, many proverbs and sayings were born during that era. In contrast to them, we can check everything instantly on the Internet.
When we went abroad, we always brought a guide book with us and we used to ask the locals or taxi drivers to recommend a good restaurant instead of searching on the Internet and looking at reviews. Sometimes unexpected things happened, but they became good memories. Nowadays, thanks to the Internet and other technological tools, we can travel without any unexpected events, but sadly this causes less communication.
To sum up, Information technology has given us a greater chance to deal with so many things more quickly and efficiently. However, the most important thing is not to be controlled by technological tools, but to handle them wisely.
