A Special Cafe!
There is an eccentric cafe in in the suburbs of London. It takes an hour to get there from Golders Green. The cafe is called “God's Own Junk Yard” and is known as the neon cafe. It is hidden away but my friend, who is English, told me about it.
My girlfriend and I went to the cafe last weekend for the first time. There are many different, odd neon signs and old music was playing in the cafe. It was atmospheric and overwhelming.
According to a waitress, the owner has been collecting these neon signs as his hobby. It's possible to buy them even though they are his collection. Some of them were my taste, especially the skull shaped neon sign - it is amazing but I didn’t buy it though!
Loads of people were queuing to buy the neon signs but I steered clear of people then I managed to get to the cafe counter. Even though the cafe is really bizarre, the menu is nothing special. I got an ordinary Latte then took a seat outside the cafe.
After chilling out drinking coffee, we hung around inside to look at the hidden neon signs. I ended up coming across a bright puppet which was moving weirdly. It seemed to be a very old one and its leg had been fixed. I had never seen anything like this in all my life. I decided to get it even though I hadn’t seen the price. Eventually, I checked the price but I gave up buying it as it too expensive! Anyway, it was still a fulfilling weekend!
Even after the cafe closed, loads of people still come there to take pictures. I recommend you visit the cafe, especially if are feeling down about something as the many different neon signs will make you feel happy!
