Adventures On Our Boat!
One month ago we were working as au pairs in London and we were learning English in Golders Green College. One summer’s day we decided to pack all our things and set off on an adventurous journey because we had been in London for a long time. But what was our final destination? Nobody knew, but we - Silvia and Renata, planned to sail to Australia. We were wondering if we would see kangaroos and try diving into the Great Barrier reef.
It was a hot summer’s day when me and Silvia boarded a small, old boat in London. We travelled light, taking just few things with us – a bikini, sun cream, a jumper for cold nights on the ocean, a fishing rod, a flashlight, a compass and a map. We also had some food but not for whole trip.
As we set off on our epic journey, we chatted and laughed until the fifth day on our epic journey. It had been such a lovely time. The weather was awesome, but then went everything bad. It started to hail. The hailstones were as big as golf balls. The strong wind was the reason for such huge waves and it nearly blew us away. We couldn’t get the boat under control for 10 days on the open ocean and we had no ideas what we could do and where we were. We thought these were the last days of our happy lives because we had also run out of food.
Unexpectedly, we came across some strangers. They were also on a boat trip but they had quite a big boat. We asked them for help and so they gave it to us. Our friends, because now we have formed very close-knit relationship, told us we could travel together so it would be much easier. It was like winning a million pounds in the lottery. We were so lucky!
At the end of our “epic journey” we had to face a shark who was so hungry he nearly ate us. The shark was really persistent so we had to give him the rest of our food.
WHAT WE COULD DO AT THAT MOMENT?! We continued on as best as we could despite everything. We had no more power, no more food, we were as hungry as that shark. We just had nothing. In the end, just as we were losing hope, something remarkable happened. We saw land! And do you know what? Now we are writing this essay from Rio De Janeiro where we sailed last night. It was such an adventure and we will never forget about it. Instead of Australia we are enjoying the carnival here. For our journey back home, I think we will definitely choose an aeroplane!
