Latvian Song and Dance Festival

The Latvian Song and Dance Festival is one of the largest amateur choral events in the world and an important event in Latvian culture. Since 1873 this festival has been held 25 times. Usually this event is held every 5 years in Riga and about 30,000 people take a part on Latvian Song and Dance festival.

Unfortunately, I haven’t taken part in this amazing festival but once I attended one of the dance concert at this festival. It was, of course, so exciting. Most Latvian people watch these concerts on TV because tickets are required and hard to get.

I am so proud on that Latvia has this festival because in this way we can save our culture and be together. The next time we will be together will be in next year from 30th June until 8th July.
