Dinner Guests in Iran!

If you are in Iran and somebody invites you to their house, you should bring flowers and some sweets the first time you visit them. It is better for you to arrive on time but if you are about half an hour late it is ok because Iran has very heavy traffic, it is busy from 7am until midnight.

It is polite to shake hands with people you don't know but some women don’t like shaking hands with men. It isn't ok to smoke without asking and its rude to start eating before the host or hostess and if you don't like food you should still eat it. It’s rude to leave ten minutes after the meal because you are in a home not a restaurant.

Some people don't like you going into their house with your shoes on because they believe the house is different from the street and you should respect the house and it is better to take them off.

A typical drink in Iran is tea and when you go somewhere every 10 minutes the host or hostess will bring tea for you without asking from you ;) After the meal, the host or hostess will bring you tea or coffee with your sweets which you bought.

If you eat as much food as you can, you will make your host or hostess happy because they will know how much you liked it😊
