An Interview with Monika

I. Do you want to stay in London for the rest of your life?

I love London. This place makes me happy, but I can't say: "I feel like this is my home." I know there are a lot of opportunities to do things, a lot of work opportunities but I still know that there are more beautiful places in the world where I can live a happy life. I can imagine working here for a few years (2-5 years). It's difficult to say where I will live one day.

II. What are you doing this weekend?

This weekend I'm booking my flight ticket for my Christmas holiday because I'm going to my hometown. I really can't wait. Unfortunately, It's too late to buy a cheap ticket but me and my family don't mind. We're seeing each other at Christmas, this thing is more important than spending money on a flight ticket.

III. Do you think you will study in in this college after Christmas?

I think I will. Me and Martina are planning to study with a private teacher. We need to prepare for an exam. We can't go back to our countries without an English language certificate. We must study hard!

IV. Are you going to go on a summer holiday?

I’m going to go on a summer holiday with my host family. Where? It will be a big surprise for me!

V. Would you like to go back to your country?

I miss my family and friends so much! But this is a big step for my future. I feel more confident. I am not afraid of travelling and speaking English language. These experiences are for the rest of my life. I will never forget them. I have learnt to be very patient here. I have met new friends from other countries. I am so glad I made the decision to come here.

VI. Have you ever been to Australia?

No, I haven't. It's my dream to visit the Australia. It would be like a dream come true for me.

VII. Where did you meet your best friend?

I have lived in a flat with my parents for my whole life. Me and my best friend grew up together in the same house. We are neighbours. She was my classmate in primary school. We still have a very strong relationship. We share every second in our lives every day.

VIII. What's your favourite food?

This is the hardest question that you can ask me! I can't answer in one sentence. Generally I love chocolate. Everything that contains chocolate is for me the best experience and I enjoy it every time.

IX. Did you use to do any sport when you were younger?

I used to play table tennis. It's not usually a favourite sport for young girls but my father loves this sport. This is the reason why I used to play it. I like playing table tennis but only for fun.

X. What does your sister or brother look like?

My sister's name is Kate. She is the only person who is perfect to me. Kate is a very beautiful and charming and always attracts male attention. She is taller than me and has straight blond hair. Like most girls she pays a lot of attention to her appearance. She works for an IT company and has to wear very elegant clothes. She doesn't mind because it's her style. I would give my life for her!
