MY TIME IN LONDON SO FAR.....!

My name is María Alejandra Giraldo Ríos. I am 25 years old and my birthday was last Friday, 12th January. I am from Spain but I have been living in London around one year and a half.

My time in London has been alright, I can not say perfect because I do not like the country but I am a lucky girl because when I arrived here I found a job very quickly. I arrived in October and I started working in a souvenir shop two days after I arrived. I was happy there but the shop closed down after one year, so I had to look for an other job.

I found a job in a supermarket and I have been working there around three months. This job is completely different to the first job that I had, but I am happy there because it is very close to my home and that means I do not need to pay for transport. It is hard when you need to change your job because you have to learn new things and meet new people, but at the same time it is good because now I am working with English people so I can improve my speaking and listening and I really notice the change.

I came here because I want to learn English and try to have a better future. I studied law and I would like to work in international law which means I need perfect English. When I arrived here I could not start studying immediately because I did not have enough money, but after four months my boyfriend decided to come and live with me. Between us, everything was easier because both of us were working. We could share money for the rent, bills, school, etc.

Since September I have been studying in Golders Green College and I can notice a big progress in my learning and I hope it continues like that! :)
