What would you do if you couldn’t use your mobile for a week?

What would you do if you couldn’t use your mobile for a week?

This situation could happen when travelling to other countries as we need to connect to different networks in each country. I have only travelled to a few countries so I can’t imagine this situation exactly. However, I’ve just had a similar experience.

A few days ago, my mobile stopped connecting to the internet unless I was using WiFi. I suddenly remembered that I needed to buy a new monthly package as I hadn’t set up an auto top up. So I tried to buy new one on my mobile but somehow I couldn’t. Then I thought maybe I didn't have enough money in my account. Thus I transferred some money into it but I still couldn’t buy the package.

Next, I contacted my mobile company by email when I was able to use WiFi. A few days later, after several conversations with a number of different people in charge, they informed me that my bank debt card had expired.

Fortunately, I finally managed to buy the package with PayPal. It was only for four days and I was still able to use WiFi at school and at home, nevertheless, I got the feeling that I was isolated from society when I couldn’t use the internet.

I’m planning to travel around Europe but I have no idea about the internet system in different places. If am in a new environment and can enjoy it, not using the internet won’t be a really big problem. Although, if I get into trouble and there’s no one who can help me, I will definitely be insecure and realise how reliant I am on being able to connect to numerous people and organisations easily!

In conclusion, mobiles are not only an addictive piece of technology, they are also mobile life savers, for instance, when you are lost, need to communicate urgently, are injured or do not feel good physically or mentally. Therefore if we are in any of those situations, it’s better to be prepared and use a mobile phone!
