Endangered species in Germany?

Greetings Traveller,

[endif]--As soon as you decide to go to Germany, you will have lots to see and discover. There are beautiful and enchanted places, lovely cities and local animals. But maybe, there is also something you haven't heard of yet.

Germany has lots of animals, which are threatened. For Example, if you travel to Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, you have the chance to see a majestic animal. You will be able to observe them flying and hunting by the shore, provided you use binoculars. The name of the king of the air is the sea eagle, unfortunately a threatened species.

Another bit of advice, in case you plan a trip to Bavaria, is to have a look for the Lynx. This fascinating animal is found in the Bavarian forest. You will recognize them as long as you watch out for their special fur and cat-like shape. So, if you have a walk through the forest, watch out for them. But you won’t see them unless you stay quiet or if they see you first. Don’t worry though, they won’t attack you unless the think you’re scared or a danger.

The last threatened animal I’d like to point out is the wolf. This dog-like animal lives in forests and usually prefers travelling in packs. But unfortunately there are no more then fifty wolves living in Germany at the moment. Even if they look terrifying and dangerous, you will be safe as long as you are careful and follow the rules. They won’t hunt you unless you challenge them.

Anyway, there are more then 14.000 animals, which are also threatened in Germany. We won’t see them in the future unless we protect them!
