Experiences on Taketomi island, Japan

After a 10-minute speedboat trip from Ishigaki Island, you arrive at the entrance to a magnificent island called 'Taketomi'. This island, which is a part of Okinawa, will give you a lot of things that you have never seen or experienced in your life.

When I arrived on this island, I couldn't speak for a while because the view was out of this world, orange roofs in a traditional Okinawa style, roads covered with completely white sand, blue sky and vivid plants that I had never seen on the main island of Japan...

I decided to start discovering this island on a water buffalo carriage which is famous among tourists. A guide informed us about the names of plants, the history, the meaning of the houses etc... as we were on the carriage. This was really inspiring. In spite of the fact that this island is part of Japan, I felt like I was in a foreign country.

Around sunset, I headed to a bridge to watch the sun going down, which was a whole new experience as the colour of the sea and the sky made everything look different. It was literally breathtaking... To be honest, I have never seen such an amazing sunset since that one.

I enjoyed the traditional dishes of Okinawa and at the same time, I enjoyed watching and listening to Okinawan music. After dinner, I went out and lay down on the road which was still warm. I only heard insects chirping and outside it was totally dark. I watched the stars for a long time. The only thing I could see was the stars. Sometimes I saw shooting stars. It's hard to describe in words the grandeur and beauty of these experiences. Just unbelievable.

When you visit this island, I recommend a stayover. You can see a different atmosphere in the daytime and the night time. Your stay on Taketomi island will absolutely become a once in a life time experience.
